About us
The CHSLT lab was founded by Professor Ryszard J. Pryputniewicz at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Department of Mechanical Engineering in 1978. It currently consists of ten laboratories furnished with state-of-the-art facilities which are used for both research and educational activities. These activities range from fundamental studies of laser light interaction with materials to sophisticated applications in metrology.
Since its inception, the CHSLT's research has been externally funded in areas relating to microelectronics, radar technology, microtechnology, micromechanics, submarine technology, jet engine technology, avionics, biomedicine, modern powder materials, ceramics, composites, energy systems, micro-scale materials science and engineering, interconnection technology, and computational modeling.
